For over a century, Switzerland’s Gstaad Palace has welcomed guests from around the world. This series offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at one of the world’s most glamorous five-star hotels. Over the course of a winter season, the film crew accompanies the staff as they go about their daily work, revolving entirely around the extravagant wishes of an ultra-wealthy clientele. Weeks before the mid-December opening, the 300-strong team works to ensure every detail meets the hotel’s exacting standards. In the kitchen, culinary director Franz Faeh and his team rehearse new dishes – from testing recipes to plating up. The housekeeping team led by Michaela Gäng is also working at full capacity. And once the guests begin to arrive, things show no sign of slowing down. Events manager Lucy Fröhlich finds herself organising two weddings simultaneously, with the couples’ special requests keeping her constantly on her toes. As the season progresses, tempers fray. The hotel is fully booked, and the demands of its exacting guests occasionally push the staff to their limits. All the more welcome, then, that after three intense months the season draws to a close and a well-earned break is in sight. In an exclusive first, hotel owner Andrea Scherz also reveals plans for the hotel’s future succession.
