MATCH ME!

How does dating and finding love work in an age when partnership has been radically redefined? We accompany three people from Austria, Finland and Ireland on their offline ‘matching experiences’.

Sarah, a Viennese woman in her mid-twenties, turns to her spiritual yoga community for help finding a "man for life", while Johanna from Munich attends an Irish "matchmaking" festival in the hope of finally being able to break out of her relationship patterns. Sampsa, a Finn in his mid-thirties, takes part in an arts-community dating project in Helsinki called the "Lover’s Matchmaking Agency", which provides a platform for unusual dates and aims to prove that any person at any time can be the "one". Sarah’s life changes radically after she accepts Jonas, the "suggestion" of her yoga group, and moves to Lithuania to be with him. While Sampsa takes the "game" very seriously and experiences real emotions, Johanna throws herself into her work after a less than successful dating experience in Ireland. But then suddenly and quite unexpectedly she too finds love. We follow the lives of the protagonists over a period of one year after their ‘matching’ experiences. Interviews accompany the process of looking for and finding love in its many different stages. The film describes an experience that is both universal and uniquely personal.
