IGI THE FISH
In search of a girlfriend, Igi the porcupinefish explores the ocean and embarks on some thrilling adventures. With lively narration, this series introduces the rich, diverse world of tropical seas.
Igi the porcupinefish lives in an Indonesian coral reef and dreams of dancing with a girlfriend. On his quest to find a female porcupinefish, he explores the ocean, experiences thrilling adventures and encounters all kinds of fantastical sea creatures – huge schools of anchovies, venomous scorpionfish, snake eels and enormous manta rays. To his great disappointment, he learns that not all female porcupinefish want to dance with him. And plastic bags and piles of tires on the seabed also remind Igi how humans are harming his habitat. A ribbon eel eventually leads him to Igine, a female porcupinefish, and together they share a wonderful dance. But their joy is short-lived – they are soon separated by clouds of swirling sand. With the help of a pilot fish and green sea turtle, they continue their search for each other. They encounter dancing stingrays, tourists and sharks. A flatworm and a Spanish dancer twist show off their dancing prowess in the water. Will Igi and Igine soon be able to dance together again, too? Featuring authentic underwater footage and lively narration that gives the animals their own distinct personalities, this series introduces the rich, diverse world of tropical seas in a child-appropriate and engaging way.
