In the deepest Black Forest, 23-year-old Chinese caregiver Qing encounters various people in the last phase of their life, a resolute care service manager and endless cheese sandwiches. Qing has never left home country of China before and is eager to see the world. The prospect of training to become caregiver for the elderly in Germany is tempting, but when she arrives in the Black Forest, there is a culture clash between two entirely different worlds. While Qing wonders why Germans insist on eating bread with cold meat every day, her employer expects her to integrate quickly and suppress any feelings of homesickness. For her elderly patients, the "quick little Chinese girl" brings a breath of fresh air into everyday life at the care home, especially for Ms Wohlfahrt, who attributes Qing's intelligence to fish eye diet, and 100-year-old Mr Reiner, who becomes her mentor. We spend three years documenting Qing's turbulent experiences, starting with her last days in China. We watch her struggle, start to settle in and mature. A film about leaving home, wandering between two worlds and finding one's own life. Sometimes bizarre and comical, sometimes sad and poignant.
